| Spray tanning tips If you are interested in getting a great spray tan and keeping it, there are a few things that you should do to prepare. The following are tips for preparing your skin, what to wear, and how to maintain your new tan. |
| Please follow instructions to achieve the best airbrush tan. Results are best if instructions are followed carefully. BEFORE YOUR AIRBRUSH SESSION: Shower: Exfoliate with a good exfoliator, and wash with a body wash or plain wash cloth after exfoliating to remove any oily residue. Do not use bar soap as it will leave a film, which may block the spray. Shave where you normally shave. After showering, DO NOT apply any lotion, make-up or deodorant. To get the best result, spray tans should be done only on perfectly clean skin. DURING YOUR SESSION Clients can wear whatever they want or lack thereof. However, we ask men to please wear underwear, swim trunks or Speedo-type bathing suit. AFTER YOUR AIRBRUSH SESSION: Wear loose fitting clothing TO AND FROM your appointment (pajama type clothing, very baggy and not binding). Do not wear tennis shoes or anything that binds. We highly suggest flip flops or slipper style shoes. Also, women will not be able to wear a bra right after being sprayed. DO NOT GET ANY PART OF THE SPRAY TAN WET FOR AT LEAST 8 HOURS. No rain, sweat, shower, lotion, perfume. If the spray tan gets wet during the initial darkening process in the first 8 hours, there will be imperfections in the finished product. Jewelry should not be worn during this initial curing period, at least 8 hours after your airbrush. A spray tan will last anywhere from 5-14 days, depending on the condition of the skin and the after care that is given to skin and airbrush tan. Since a spray tan affects only the top most layer of skin, the more you exfoliate or shave over your spray tan, the faster it will wear off. We recommend no exfoliation to the skin the first few days after a spray tan. Use your hands or very soft washcloth in the shower. Only exfoliate when it begins to wear off and you want to remove the tan. The Hot Spot Tanning Salon recommends a top quality moisturizer or tan extender (extenders contain a small amount of a self tanning ingredient) which is available at the salon. Lotions bought at large retail stores contain a lot of water, fragrance and other cheap filler ingredients, including alcohol and mineral oil. Alcohol is used to REMOVE sunless tanners. If you use moisturizer with mineral oil or alcohol as an ingredient or an alcohol based fragrance, your spray tan will FADE QUICKLY. The Hot Spot Tanning Salon wants your spray tan experience to be a good one and will do everything in our power to ensure that you have a positive experience with great results.
